Percentage Calculator
Calculate percentages using three common patterns.
Overview
- Calculates percentages using three common patterns.
- Supports "What is X% of Y?" (e.g., a 20% discount amount), "A is what percent of B?" (e.g., an achievement rate), and "Percentage change from A to B" (e.g., a change in sales).
Usage
- Select the pattern that matches your goal under "Calculation type".
- Enter numbers into the two input fields shown.
- Click "Calculate" to see the result.
Example
Input
What is X% of Y?: 20% of 1000
Output
200
Use Cases
- Calculating a sale price (finding the amount after an X% discount from the original price)
- Calculating an achievement rate for a test or goal (what percent of the full score you earned)
- Comparing this month's sales to last month's and finding the percentage change
FAQ
When does "Percentage change from A to B" become negative?
It becomes negative when the value decreases from A to B. For example, a change from 100 to 80 is -20%.
What happens if the base value is 0?
You will see the error "Cannot calculate a percentage change from 0." because a percentage based on 0 is not mathematically defined.
