- Checking the tax amount separately when both the reduced rate (e.g., food) and standard rate apply
FAQ
How are fractional tax amounts handled?
Amounts are rounded to the nearest whole yen. Actual invoices and receipts may round down or up depending on the business, so treat this as a reference value.
What items are eligible for the reduced tax rate?
Food and beverages (excluding alcohol and dining out) and subscription newspapers are eligible for the reduced rate (8%) in Japan. Check official National Tax Agency information for details.
Can I enter a tax rate other than the standard or reduced rate?
Yes. You can enter any rate directly, as long as it is greater than 0 and less than 100.
Notes
- This tool assumes Japan's consumption tax system and does not support other countries' tax systems.
